  1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, he made him in God's likeness.
  
  2 He created them male and female, and blessed them, and called their name "Adam," in the day when they were created.
  
  3 Adam lived one hundred thirty years, and became the father of a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth.
  
  4 The days of Adam after he became the father of Seth were eight hundred years, and he became the father of sons and daughters.
  
  5 All the days that Adam lived were nine hundred thirty years, then he died.
  
  6 Seth lived one hundred five years, and became the father of Enosh.
  
  7 Seth lived after he became the father of Enosh eight hundred seven years, and became the father of sons and daughters.
  
  8 All the days of Seth were nine hundred twelve years, then he died.
  
  9 Enosh lived ninety years, and became the father of Kenan.
  
  10 Enosh lived after he became the father of Kenan, eight hundred fifteen years, and became the father of sons and daughters.
  
  11 All the days of Enosh were nine hundred five years, then he died.
  
  12 Kenan lived seventy years, and became the father of Mahalalel.
  
  13 Kenan lived after he became the father of Mahalalel eight hundred forty years, and became the father of sons and daughters
  
  14 and all the days of Kenan were nine hundred ten years, then he died.
  
  15 Mahalalel lived sixty-five years, and became the father of Jared.
  
  16 Mahalalel lived after he became the father of Jared eight hundred thirty years, and became the father of sons and daughters.
  
  17 All the days of Mahalalel were eight hundred ninety-five years, then he died.
  
  18 Jared lived one hundred sixty-two years, and became the father of Enoch.
  
  19 Jared lived after he became the father of Enoch eight hundred years, and became the father of sons and daughters.
  
  20 All the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty-two years, then he died.
  
  21 Enoch lived sixty-five years, and became the father of Methuselah.
  
  22 Enoch walked with God after he became the father of Methuselah three hundred years, and became the father of sons and daughters.
  
  23 All the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty-five years.
  
  24 Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him.
  
  25 Methuselah lived one hundred eighty-seven years, and became the father of Lamech.
  
  26 Methuselah lived after he became the father of Lamech seven hundred eighty-two years, and became the father of sons and daughters.
  
  27 All the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty-nine years, then he died.
  
  28 Lamech lived one hundred eighty-two years, and became the father of a son,
  
  29 and he named him Noah, saying, "This same will comfort us in our work and in the toil of our hands, because of the ground which Yahweh has cursed."
  
  30 Lamech lived after he became the father of Noah five hundred ninety-five years, and became the father of sons and daughters.
  
  31 All the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy-seven years, then he died.
  
  32 Noah was five hundred years old, and Noah became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
  
  Esdras 5
  
  1 Now the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem; in the name of the God of Israel they prophesied to them.
  
  2 Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build God's house which is at Jerusalem; and with them were the prophets of God, helping them.
  
  3 At the same time came to them Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, and Shetharbozenai, and their companions, and said thus to them, "Who gave you a decree to build this house, and to finish this wall?"
  
  4 Then we told them in this way, what the names of the men were who were making this building.
  
  5 But the eye of their God was on the elders of the Jews, and they did not make them cease, until the matter should come to Darius, and then answer should be returned by letter concerning it.
  
  6 The copy of the letter that Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, and Shetharbozenai, and his companions the Apharsachites, who were beyond the River, sent to Darius the king;
  
  7 they sent a letter to him, in which was written thus: To Darius the king, all peace.
  
  8 Be it known to the king, that we went into the province of Judah, to the house of the great God, which is built with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls; and this work goes on with diligence and prospers in their hands.
  
  9 Then we asked those elders, and said to them thus, "Who gave you a decree to build this house, and to finish this wall?"
  
  10 We asked them their names also, to inform you that we might write the names of the men who were at their head.
  
  11 Thus they returned us answer, saying, "We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and are building the house that was built these many years ago, which a great king of Israel built and finished.
  
  12 But after that our fathers had provoked the God of heaven to wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Babylon.
  
  13 But in the first year of Cyrus king of Babylon, Cyrus the king made a decree to build this house of God.
  
  14 The gold and silver vessels also of God's house, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that was in Jerusalem, and brought into the temple of Babylon, those Cyrus the king took out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered to one whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor;
  
  15 and he said to him, 'Take these vessels, go, put them in the temple that is in Jerusalem, and let God's house be built in its place.'
  
  16 Then the same Sheshbazzar came, and laid the foundations of God's house which is in Jerusalem: and since that time even until now has it been in building, and yet it is not completed.
  
  17 Now therefore, if it seem good to the king, let a search be made in the king's treasure house, which is there at Babylon, whether it be so, that a decree was made of Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem; and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter."
  
  Matthieu 5
  
  1 Seeing the multitudes, he went up onto the mountain. When he had sat down, his disciples came to him.
  
  2 He opened his mouth and taught them, saying,
  
  3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
  
  4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
  
  5 Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.
  
  6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.
  
  7 Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
  
  8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
  
  9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
  
  10 Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
  
  11 "Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
  
  12 Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
  
  13 "You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.
  
  14 You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can't be hidden.
  
  15 Neither do you light a lamp, and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house.
  
  16 Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
  
  17 "Don't think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn't come to destroy, but to fulfill.
  
  18 For most certainly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter or one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished.
  
  19 Whoever, therefore, shall break one of these least commandments, and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.
  
  20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
  
  21 "You have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, 'You shall not murder;' and 'Whoever shall murder shall be in danger of the judgment.'
  
  22 But I tell you, that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment; and whoever shall say to his brother, 'Raca !' shall be in danger of the council; and whoever shall say, 'You fool!' shall be in danger of the fire of Gehenna.
  
  23 "If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you,
  
  24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
  
  25 Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are with him in the way; lest perhaps the prosecutor deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison.
  
  26 Most certainly I tell you, you shall by no means get out of there, until you have paid the last penny.
  
  27 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery;'
  
  28 but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.
  
  29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.
  
  30 If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.
  
  31 "It was also said, 'Whoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorce,'
  
  32 but I tell you that whoever puts away his wife, except for the cause of sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries her when she is put away commits adultery.
  
  33 "Again you have heard that it was said to them of old time, 'You shall not make false vows, but shall perform to the Lord your vows,'
  
  34 but I tell you, don't swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God;
  
  35 nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
  
  36 Neither shall you swear by your head, for you can't make one hair white or black.
  
  37 But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes' and your 'No' be 'No.' Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.
  
  38 "You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.'
  
  39 But I tell you, don't resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.
  
  40 If anyone sues you to take away your coat, let him have your cloak also.
  
  41 Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.
  
  42 Give to him who asks you, and don't turn away him who desires to borrow from you.
  
  43 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor, and hate your enemy. '
  
  44 But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,
  
  45 that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.
  
  46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don't even the tax collectors do the same?
  
  47 If you only greet your friends, what more do you do than others? Don't even the tax collectors do the same?
  
  48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

  2 זָכָ֥ר וּנְקֵבָ֖ה בְּרָאָ֑ם וַיְבָ֣רֶךְ אֹתָ֗ם וַיִּקְרָ֤א אֶת־שְׁמָם֙ אָדָ֔ם בְּי֖וֹם הִבָּֽרְאָֽם׃
  
  3 וַֽיְחִ֣י אָדָ֗ם שְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים וּמְאַת֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בִּדְמוּת֖וֹ כְּצַלְמ֑וֹ וַיִּקְרָ֥א אֶת־שְׁמ֖וֹ שֵֽׁת׃
  
  4 וַיִּֽהְי֣וּ יְמֵי־אָדָ֗ם אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־שֵׁ֔ת שְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵאֹ֖ת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃
  
  5 וַיִּֽהְי֞וּ כָּל־יְמֵ֤י אָדָם֙ אֲשֶׁר־חַ֔י תְּשַׁ֤ע מֵאוֹת֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים שָׁנָ֑ה וַיָּמֹֽת׃
  
  6 וַֽיְחִי־שֵׁ֕ת חָמֵ֥שׁ שָׁנִ֖ים וּמְאַ֣ת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־אֱנֽוֹשׁ׃
  
  7 וַֽיְחִי־שֵׁ֗ת אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־אֱנ֔וֹשׁ שֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֔ים וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃

  13 וַיְחִ֣י קֵינָ֗ן אַחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־מַֽהֲלַלְאֵ֔ל אַרְבָּעִ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃
  
  14 וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙ כָּל־יְמֵ֣י קֵינָ֔ן עֶ֣שֶׂר שָׁנִ֔ים וּתְשַׁ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיָּמֹֽת׃
  
  15 וַֽיְחִ֣י מַֽהֲלַלְאֵ֔ל חָמֵ֥שׁ שָׁנִ֖ים וְשִׁשִּׁ֣ים שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־יָֽרֶד׃
  
  16 וַֽיְחִ֣י מַֽהֲלַלְאֵ֗ל אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־יֶ֔רֶד שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃
  
  17 וַיִּהְיוּ֙ כָּל־יְמֵ֣י מַהֲלַלְאֵ֔ל חָמֵ֤שׁ וְתִשְׁעִים֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיָּמֹֽת׃
  
  18 וַֽיְחִי־יֶ֕רֶד שְׁתַּ֧יִם וְשִׁשִּׁ֛ים שָׁנָ֖ה וּמְאַ֣ת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־חֲנֽוֹךְ׃
  
  19 וַֽיְחִי־יֶ֗רֶד אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־חֲנ֔וֹךְ שְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃
  
  20 וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙ כָּל־יְמֵי־יֶ֔רֶד שְׁתַּ֤יִם וְשִׁשִּׁים֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וּתְשַׁ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיָּמֹֽת׃
  
  21 וַֽיְחִ֣י חֲנ֔וֹךְ חָמֵ֥שׁ וְשִׁשִּׁ֖ים שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־מְתוּשָֽׁלַח׃
  
  22 וַיִּתְהַלֵּ֨ךְ חֲנ֜וֹךְ אֶת־הָֽאֱלֹהִ֗ים אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־מְתוּשֶׁ֔לַח שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃
  
  23 וַיְהִ֖י כָּל־יְמֵ֣י חֲנ֑וֹךְ חָמֵ֤שׁ וְשִׁשִּׁים֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וּשְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָֽה׃
  
  24 וַיִּתְהַלֵּ֥ךְ חֲנ֖וֹךְ אֶת־הָֽאֱלֹהִ֑ים וְאֵינֶ֕נּוּ כִּֽי־לָקַ֥ח אֹת֖וֹ אֱלֹהִֽים׃
  
  25 וַיְחִ֣י מְתוּשֶׁ֔לַח שֶׁ֧בַע וּשְׁמֹנִ֛ים שָׁנָ֖ה וּמְאַ֣ת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־לָֽמֶךְ׃
  
  26 וַֽיְחִ֣י מְתוּשֶׁ֗לַח אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־לֶ֔מֶךְ שְׁתַּ֤יִם וּשְׁמוֹנִים֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וּשְׁבַ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃
  
  27 וַיִּהְיוּ֙ כָּל־יְמֵ֣י מְתוּשֶׁ֔לַח תֵּ֤שַׁע וְשִׁשִּׁים֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וּתְשַׁ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיָּמֹֽת׃
  
  28 וַֽיְחִי־לֶ֕מֶךְ שְׁתַּ֧יִם וּשְׁמֹנִ֛ים שָׁנָ֖ה וּמְאַ֣ת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד בֵּֽן׃
  
  29 וַיִּקְרָ֧א אֶת־שְׁמ֛וֹ נֹ֖חַ לֵאמֹ֑ר זֶ֠ה יְנַחֲמֵ֤נוּ מִֽמַּעֲשֵׂ֙נוּ֙ וּמֵעִצְּב֣וֹן יָדֵ֔ינוּ מִן־הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֵֽרְרָ֖הּ יְהוָֽה׃
  
  30 וַֽיְחִי־לֶ֗מֶךְ אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־נֹ֔חַ חָמֵ֤שׁ וְתִשְׁעִים֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵאֹ֖ת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃
  
  31 וַֽיְהִי֙ כָּל־יְמֵי־לֶ֔מֶךְ שֶׁ֤בַע וְשִׁבְעִים֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וּשְׁבַ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיָּמֹֽת׃
  
  32 וַֽיְהִי־נֹ֕חַ בֶּן־חֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֣וֹלֶד נֹ֔חַ אֶת־שֵׁ֖ם אֶת־חָ֥ם וְאֶת־יָֽפֶת׃

  1 וְהִתְנַבִּ֞י חַגַּ֣י *נביאה **נְבִיָּ֗א וּזְכַרְיָ֤ה בַר־עִדּוֹא֙ *נביאיא **נְבִיַּיָּ֔א עַל־יְה֣וּדָיֵ֔א דִּ֥י בִיה֖וּד וּבִירוּשְׁלֶ֑ם בְּשֻׁ֛ם אֱלָ֥הּ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עֲלֵיהֽוֹן׃
  
  2 בֵּאדַ֡יִן קָ֠מוּ זְרֻבָּבֶ֤ל בַּר־שְׁאַלְתִּיאֵל֙ וְיֵשׁ֣וּעַ בַּר־יֽוֹצָדָ֔ק וְשָׁרִ֣יו לְמִבְנֵ֔א בֵּ֥ית אֱלָהָ֖א דִּ֣י בִירֽוּשְׁלֶ֑ם וְעִמְּה֛וֹן *נביאיא **נְבִיַּיָּ֥א דִֽי־אֱלָהָ֖א מְסָעֲדִ֥ין לְהֽוֹן׃
  
  3 בֵּהּ־זִמְנָא֩ אֲתָ֨א עֲלֵיה֜וֹן תַּ֠תְּנַי פַּחַ֧ת עֲבַֽר־נַהֲרָ֛ה וּשְׁתַ֥ר בּוֹזְנַ֖י וּכְנָוָתְה֑וֹן וְכֵן֙ אָמְרִ֣ין לְהֹ֔ם מַן־שָׂ֨ם לְכֹ֜ם טְעֵ֗ם בַּיְתָ֤א דְנָה֙ לִבְּנֵ֔א וְאֻשַּׁרְנָ֥א דְנָ֖ה לְשַׁכְלָלָֽה׃
  
  4 אֱדַ֥יִן כְּנֵ֖מָא אֲמַ֣רְנָא לְּהֹ֑ם מַן־אִנּוּן֙ שְׁמָהָ֣ת גֻּבְרַיָּ֔א דִּֽי־דְנָ֥ה בִנְיָנָ֖א בָּנַֽיִן׃
  
  5 וְעֵ֣ין אֱלָהֲהֹ֗ם הֲוָת֙ עַל־שָׂבֵ֣י יְהוּדָיֵ֔א וְלָא־בַטִּ֣לוּ הִמּ֔וֹ עַד־טַעְמָ֖א לְדָרְיָ֣וֶשׁ יְהָ֑ךְ וֶאֱדַ֛יִן יְתִיב֥וּן נִשְׁתְּוָנָ֖א עַל־דְּנָֽה׃
  
  6 פַּרְשֶׁ֣גֶן אִ֠גַּרְתָּא דִּֽי־שְׁלַ֞ח תַּתְּנַ֣י ׀ פַּחַ֣ת עֲבַֽר־נַהֲרָ֗ה וּשְׁתַ֤ר בּוֹזְנַי֙ וּכְנָ֣וָתֵ֔הּ אֲפַ֨רְסְכָיֵ֔א דִּ֖י בַּעֲבַ֣ר נַהֲרָ֑ה עַל־דָּרְיָ֖וֶשׁ מַלְכָּֽא׃
  
  7 פִּתְגָמָ֖א שְׁלַ֣חוּ עֲל֑וֹהִי וְכִדְנָה֙ כְּתִ֣יב בְּגַוֵּ֔הּ לְדָרְיָ֥וֶשׁ מַלְכָּ֖א שְׁלָמָ֥א כֹֽלָּא׃

  1 Ἰδὼν δὲ τοὺς ὄχλους ἀνέβη εἰς τὸ ὄρος· καὶ καθίσαντος αὐτοῦ προσῆλθαν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ·
  
  2 καὶ ἀνοίξας τὸ στόμα αὐτοῦ ἐδίδασκεν αὐτοὺς λέγων·
  
  3 Μακάριοι οἱ πτωχοὶ τῷ πνεύματι, ὅτι αὐτῶν ἐστιν ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν.
  
  4 μακάριοι οἱ πενθοῦντες, ὅτι αὐτοὶ παρακληθήσονται.
  
  5 μακάριοι οἱ πραεῖς, ὅτι αὐτοὶ κληρονομήσουσι τὴν γῆν.
  
  6 μακάριοι οἱ πεινῶντες καὶ διψῶντες τὴν δικαιοσύνην, ὅτι αὐτοὶ χορτασθήσονται.
  
  7 μακάριοι οἱ ἐλεήμονες, ὅτι αὐτοὶ ἐλεηθήσονται.
  
  8 μακάριοι οἱ καθαροὶ τῇ καρδίᾳ, ὅτι αὐτοὶ τὸν θεὸν ὄψονται.
  
  9 μακάριοι οἱ εἰρηνοποιοί, ὅτι αὐτοὶ υἱοὶ θεοῦ κληθήσονται.
  
  10 μακάριοι οἱ δεδιωγμένοι ἕνεκεν δικαιοσύνης, ὅτι αὐτῶν ἐστιν ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν.
  
  11 μακάριοί ἐστε ὅταν ὀνειδίσωσιν ὑμᾶς καὶ διώξωσιν καὶ εἴπωσιν πᾶν πονηρὸν καθ’ ὑμῶν ψευδόμενοι ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ.
  
  12 χαίρετε καὶ ἀγαλλιᾶσθε, ὅτι ὁ μισθὸς ὑμῶν πολὺς ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς· οὕτως γὰρ ἐδίωξαν τοὺς προφήτας τοὺς πρὸ ὑμῶν.
  
  13 Ὑμεῖς ἐστε τὸ ἅλας τῆς γῆς· ἐὰν δὲ τὸ ἅλας μωρανθῇ, ἐν τίνι ἁλισθήσεται; εἰς οὐδὲν ἰσχύει ἔτι εἰ μὴ βληθὲν ἔξω καταπατεῖσθαι ὑπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων.
  
  14 Ὑμεῖς ἐστε τὸ φῶς τοῦ κόσμου. οὐ δύναται πόλις κρυβῆναι ἐπάνω ὄρους κειμένη·
  
  15 οὐδὲ καίουσιν λύχνον καὶ τιθέασιν αὐτὸν ὑπὸ τὸν μόδιον ἀλλ’ ἐπὶ τὴν λυχνίαν, καὶ λάμπει πᾶσιν τοῖς ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ.
  
  16 οὕτως λαμψάτω τὸ φῶς ὑμῶν ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀνθρώπων, ὅπως ἴδωσιν ὑμῶν τὰ καλὰ ἔργα καὶ δοξάσωσιν τὸν πατέρα ὑμῶν τὸν ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς.
  
  17 Μὴ νομίσητε ὅτι ἦλθον καταλῦσαι τὸν νόμον ἢ τοὺς προφήτας· οὐκ ἦλθον καταλῦσαι ἀλλὰ πληρῶσαι·
  
  18 ἀμὴν γὰρ λέγω ὑμῖν, ἕως ἂν παρέλθῃ ὁ οὐρανὸς καὶ ἡ γῆ, ἰῶτα ἓν ἢ μία κεραία οὐ μὴ παρέλθῃ ἀπὸ τοῦ νόμου, ἕως ἂν πάντα γένηται.
  
  19 ὃς ἐὰν οὖν λύσῃ μίαν τῶν ἐντολῶν τούτων τῶν ἐλαχίστων καὶ διδάξῃ οὕτως τοὺς ἀνθρώπους, ἐλάχιστος κληθήσεται ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν· ὃς δ’ ἂν ποιήσῃ καὶ διδάξῃ, οὗτος μέγας κληθήσεται ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν.
  
  20 λέγω γὰρ ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐὰν μὴ περισσεύσῃ ὑμῶν ἡ δικαιοσύνη πλεῖον τῶν γραμματέων καὶ Φαρισαίων, οὐ μὴ εἰσέλθητε εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τῶν οὐρανῶν.
  
  21 Ἠκούσατε ὅτι ἐρρέθη τοῖς ἀρχαίοις· Οὐ φονεύσεις· ὃς δ’ ἂν φονεύσῃ, ἔνοχος ἔσται τῇ κρίσει.
  
  22 ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι πᾶς ὁ ὀργιζόμενος τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ ἔνοχος ἔσται τῇ κρίσει· ὃς δ’ ἂν εἴπῃ τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ· Ῥακά, ἔνοχος ἔσται τῷ συνεδρίῳ· ὃς δ’ ἂν εἴπῃ· Μωρέ, ἔνοχος ἔσται εἰς τὴν γέενναν τοῦ πυρός.
  
  23 ἐὰν οὖν προσφέρῃς τὸ δῶρόν σου ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον κἀκεῖ μνησθῇς ὅτι ὁ ἀδελφός σου ἔχει τι κατὰ σοῦ,
  
  24 ἄφες ἐκεῖ τὸ δῶρόν σου ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου καὶ ὕπαγε πρῶτον διαλλάγηθι τῷ ἀδελφῷ σου, καὶ τότε ἐλθὼν πρόσφερε τὸ δῶρόν σου.
  
  25 ἴσθι εὐνοῶν τῷ ἀντιδίκῳ σου ταχὺ ἕως ὅτου εἶ μετ’ αὐτοῦ ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ, μήποτέ σε παραδῷ ὁ ἀντίδικος τῷ κριτῇ, καὶ ὁ κριτὴς τῷ ὑπηρέτῃ, καὶ εἰς φυλακὴν βληθήσῃ·
  
  26 ἀμὴν λέγω σοι, οὐ μὴ ἐξέλθῃς ἐκεῖθεν ἕως ἂν ἀποδῷς τὸν ἔσχατον κοδράντην.
  
  27 Ἠκούσατε ὅτι ἐρρέθη· Οὐ μοιχεύσεις.
  
  28 ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι πᾶς ὁ βλέπων γυναῖκα πρὸς τὸ ἐπιθυμῆσαι αὐτὴν ἤδη ἐμοίχευσεν αὐτὴν ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ.
  
  29 εἰ δὲ ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου ὁ δεξιὸς σκανδαλίζει σε, ἔξελε αὐτὸν καὶ βάλε ἀπὸ σοῦ, συμφέρει γάρ σοι ἵνα ἀπόληται ἓν τῶν μελῶν σου καὶ μὴ ὅλον τὸ σῶμά σου βληθῇ εἰς γέενναν.
  
  30 καὶ εἰ ἡ δεξιά σου χεὶρ σκανδαλίζει σε, ἔκκοψον αὐτὴν καὶ βάλε ἀπὸ σοῦ, συμφέρει γάρ σοι ἵνα ἀπόληται ἓν τῶν μελῶν σου καὶ μὴ ὅλον τὸ σῶμά σου εἰς γέενναν ἀπέλθῃ.
  
  31 Ἐρρέθη δέ· Ὃς ἂν ἀπολύσῃ τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ, δότω αὐτῇ ἀποστάσιον.
  
  32 ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι πᾶς ὁ ἀπολύων τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ παρεκτὸς λόγου πορνείας ποιεῖ αὐτὴν μοιχευθῆναι, καὶ ὃς ἐὰν ἀπολελυμένην γαμήσῃ μοιχᾶται.
  
  33 Πάλιν ἠκούσατε ὅτι ἐρρέθη τοῖς ἀρχαίοις· Οὐκ ἐπιορκήσεις, ἀποδώσεις δὲ τῷ κυρίῳ τοὺς ὅρκους σου.
  
  34 ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν μὴ ὀμόσαι ὅλως· μήτε ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ, ὅτι θρόνος ἐστὶν τοῦ θεοῦ·
  
  35 μήτε ἐν τῇ γῇ, ὅτι ὑποπόδιόν ἐστιν τῶν ποδῶν αὐτοῦ· μήτε εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα, ὅτι πόλις ἐστὶν τοῦ μεγάλου βασιλέως·
  
  36 μήτε ἐν τῇ κεφαλῇ σου ὀμόσῃς, ὅτι οὐ δύνασαι μίαν τρίχα λευκὴν ποιῆσαι ἢ μέλαιναν.
  
  37 ἔστω δὲ ὁ λόγος ὑμῶν ναὶ ναί, οὒ οὔ· τὸ δὲ περισσὸν τούτων ἐκ τοῦ πονηροῦ ἐστιν.
  
  38 Ἠκούσατε ὅτι ἐρρέθη· Ὀφθαλμὸν ἀντὶ ὀφθαλμοῦ καὶ ὀδόντα ἀντὶ ὀδόντος.
  
  39 ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν μὴ ἀντιστῆναι τῷ πονηρῷ· ἀλλ’ ὅστις σε ῥαπίζει εἰς τὴν δεξιὰν σιαγόνα, στρέψον αὐτῷ καὶ τὴν ἄλλην·
  
  40 καὶ τῷ θέλοντί σοι κριθῆναι καὶ τὸν χιτῶνά σου λαβεῖν, ἄφες αὐτῷ καὶ τὸ ἱμάτιον·
  
  41 καὶ ὅστις σε ἀγγαρεύσει μίλιον ἕν, ὕπαγε μετ’ αὐτοῦ δύο.
  
  42 τῷ αἰτοῦντί σε δός, καὶ τὸν θέλοντα ἀπὸ σοῦ δανίσασθαι μὴ ἀποστραφῇς.
  
  43 Ἠκούσατε ὅτι ἐρρέθη· Ἀγαπήσεις τὸν πλησίον σου καὶ μισήσεις τὸν ἐχθρόν σου.
  
  44 ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν, ἀγαπᾶτε τοὺς ἐχθροὺς ὑμῶν καὶ προσεύχεσθε ὑπὲρ τῶν διωκόντων ὑμᾶς·
  
  45 ὅπως γένησθε υἱοὶ τοῦ πατρὸς ὑμῶν τοῦ ἐν οὐρανοῖς, ὅτι τὸν ἥλιον αὐτοῦ ἀνατέλλει ἐπὶ πονηροὺς καὶ ἀγαθοὺς καὶ βρέχει ἐπὶ δικαίους καὶ ἀδίκους.
  
  46 ἐὰν γὰρ ἀγαπήσητε τοὺς ἀγαπῶντας ὑμᾶς, τίνα μισθὸν ἔχετε; οὐχὶ καὶ οἱ τελῶναι τὸ αὐτὸ ποιοῦσιν;
  
  47 καὶ ἐὰν ἀσπάσησθε τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς ὑμῶν μόνον, τί περισσὸν ποιεῖτε; οὐχὶ καὶ οἱ ἐθνικοὶ τὸ αὐτὸ ποιοῦσιν;
  
  48 Ἔσεσθε οὖν ὑμεῖς τέλειοι ὡς ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ οὐράνιος τέλειός ἐστιν.

  10 Et nous leur demandâmes aussi leurs noms pour te les faire savoir, afin de t'écrire les noms des hommes qui sont les principaux parmi eux ;
  
  11 et ils répondirent ainsi, disant : Nous sommes les serviteurs du Dieu des cieux et de la terre, et nous bâtissons la maison qui fut bâtie anciennement, il y a bien des années ; et un grand roi d'Israël l'a bâtie et achevée.
  
  12 Mais quand nos pères provoquèrent le Dieu des cieux, il les livra en la main de Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, le Chaldéen, et il détruisit cette maison et transporta le peuple à Babylone.
  
  13 Mais la première année de Cyrus, roi de Babylone, le roi Cyrus donna ordre de bâtir cette maison de Dieu.
  
  14 Et aussi les ustensiles d'or et d'argent de la maison de Dieu, que Nebucadnetsar a sortis du temple qui était à Jérusalem et a emportés dans le temple de Babylone, le roi Cyrus les sortit du temple de Babylone, et les livra au nommé Sheshbatsar, qu'il avait fait gouverneur ;
  
  15 et il lui dit : Prends ces ustensiles, va, place-les dans le temple qui est à Jérusalem, et qu'on bâtisse la maison de Dieu sur son emplacement.
  
  16 Alors ce Sheshbatsar est venu et a posé les fondements de la maison de Dieu qui est à Jérusalem, et depuis lors jusqu'à présent elle se bâtit ; mais elle n'est pas achevée.
  
  17 Et maintenant, s'il semble bon au roi, qu'on recherche dans la maison des trésors du roi, qui est là à Babylone, s'il est vrai que, de par le roi Cyrus, ordre a été donné de bâtir cette maison de Dieu à Jérusalem ; et que le roi nous envoie sa volonté sur cela.

  1 Or, voyant les foules, il monta sur la montagne ; et lorsqu'il se fut assis, ses disciples s'approchèrent de lui ;
  
  2 et ayant ouvert sa bouche, il les enseignait, disant :
  
  3 Bienheureux les pauvres en esprit, car c'est à eux qu'est le royaume des cieux ;
  
  4 bienheureux ceux qui mènent deuil, car c'est eux qui seront consolés ;
  
  5 bienheureux les débonnaires, car c'est eux qui hériteront de la terre ;
  
  6 bienheureux ceux qui ont faim et soif de la justice, car c'est eux qui seront rassasiés ;
  
  7 bienheureux les miséricordieux, car c'est à eux que miséricorde sera faite ;
  
  8 bienheureux ceux qui sont purs de coeur, car c'est eux qui verront Dieu ;
  
  9 bienheureux ceux qui procurent la paix, car c'est eux qui seront appelés fils de Dieu ;
  
  10 bienheureux ceux qui sont persécutés à cause de la justice, car c'est à eux qu'est le royaume des cieux.
  
  11 Vous êtes bienheureux quand on vous injuriera, et qu'on vous persécutera, et qu'on dira, en mentant, toute espèce de mal contre vous, à cause de moi.
  
  12 Réjouissez-vous et tressaillez de joie, car votre récompense est grande dans les cieux ; car on a ainsi persécuté les prophètes qui ont été avant vous.
  
  13 Vous êtes le sel de la terre ; mais si le sel a perdu sa saveur, avec quoi sera-t-il salé ? Il n'est plus bon à rien qu'à être jeté dehors et à être foulé aux pieds par les hommes.
  
  14 Vous êtes la lumière du monde : une ville située sur une montagne ne peut être cachée.
  
  15 Aussi n'allume-t-on pas une lampe pour la mettre ensuite sous le boisseau, mais sur le pied de lampe ; et elle luit pour tous ceux qui sont dans la maison.
  
  16 Que votre lumière luise ainsi devant les hommes, en sorte qu'ils voient vos bonnes oeuvres, et qu'ils glorifient votre Père qui est dans les cieux.
  
  17 Ne pensez pas que je sois venu pour abolir la loi ou les prophètes : je ne suis pas venu pour abolir, mais pour accomplir ;
  
  18 car, en vérité, je vous dis : Jusqu'à ce que le ciel et la terre passent, un seul iota ou un seul trait de lettre ne passera point de la loi, que tout ne soit accompli.
  
  19 Quiconque donc aura supprimé l'un de ces plus petits commandements et aura enseigné ainsi les hommes, sera appelé le plus petit dans le royaume des cieux ; et quiconque l'aura pratiqué et enseigné, celui-là sera appelé grand dans le royaume des cieux.
  
  20 Car je vous dis que, si votre justice ne surpasse pas celle des scribes et des pharisiens, vous n'entrerez point dans le royaume des cieux.
  
  21 Vous avez ouï qu'il a été dit aux anciens : "Tu ne tueras pas ; et quiconque tuera, sera passible du jugement".
  
  22 Mais moi, je vous dis que quiconque se met en colère légèrement contre son frère sera passible du jugement ; et quiconque dira à son frère : "Raca", sera passible du jugement du sanhédrin ; et quiconque dira "fou", sera passible de la géhenne du feu.
  
  23 Si donc tu offres ton don à l'autel, et que là il te souvienne que ton frère a quelque chose contre toi,
  
  24 laisse là ton don devant l'autel, et va d'abord : réconcilie-toi avec ton frère ; et alors viens et offre ton don.
  
  25 Mets-toi promptement d'accord avec ta partie adverse, pendant que tu es en chemin avec elle, de peur que ta partie adverse ne te livre au juge, et que le juge ne te livre au sergent, et que tu ne sois jeté en prison ;
  
  26 en vérité, je te dis : Tu ne sortiras point de là, jusqu'à ce que tu aies payé le dernier quadrant.
  
  27 Vous avez ouï qu'il a été dit : "Tu ne commettras pas adultère".
  
  28 Mais moi, je vous dis que quiconque regarde une femme pour la convoiter, a déjà commis adultère avec elle dans son coeur.
  
  29 Mais si ton oeil droit est pour toi une occasion de chute, arrache-le et jette-le loin de toi ; car il est avantageux pour toi qu'un de tes membres périsse, et que tout ton corps ne soit pas jeté dans la géhenne.
  
  30 Et si ta main droite est pour toi une occasion de chute, coupe-la et jette-la loin de toi ; car il est avantageux pour toi qu'un de tes membres périsse, et que tout ton corps ne soit pas jeté dans la géhenne.
  
  31 Il a été dit aussi : "Si quelqu'un répudie sa femme, qu'il lui donne une lettre de divorce".
  
  32 Mais moi, je vous dis que quiconque répudiera sa femme, si ce n'est pour cause de fornication, la fait commettre adultère ; et quiconque épousera une femme répudiée, commet adultère.
  
  33 Vous avez encore ouï qu'il a été dit aux anciens : "Tu ne te parjureras pas, mais tu rendras au Seigneur tes serments".
  
  34 Mais moi, je vous dis de ne pas jurer du tout ; ni par le ciel, car il est le trône de Dieu ;
  
  35 ni par la terre, car elle est le marchepied de ses pieds ; ni par Jérusalem, car elle est la ville du grand Roi.
  
  36 Tu ne jureras pas non plus par ta tête, car tu ne peux faire blanc ou noir un cheveu.
  
  37 Mais que votre parole soit : Oui, oui ; non, non ; car ce qui est de plus vient du mal.
  
  38 Vous avez ouï qu'il a été dit : "Oeil pour Oeil, et dent pour dent".
  
  39 Mais moi, je vous dis : Ne résistez pas au mal ; mais si quelqu'un te frappe sur la joue droite, présente-lui aussi l'autre ;
  
  40 et à celui qui veut plaider contre toi et t'ôter ta tunique, laisse-lui encore le manteau ;
  
  41 et si quelqu'un veut te contraindre de faire un mille, vas-en deux avec lui.
  
  42 Donne à qui te demande, et ne te détourne pas de qui veut emprunter de toi.
  
  43 Vous avez ouï qu'il a été dit : "Tu aimeras ton prochain, et tu haïras ton ennemi".
  
  44 Mais moi, je vous dis : Aimez vos ennemis, bénissez ceux qui vous maudissent, faites du bien à ceux qui vous haïssent, et priez pour ceux qui vous font du tort et vous persécutent,
  
  45 en sorte que vous soyez les fils de votre Père qui est dans les cieux ; car il fait lever son soleil sur les méchants et sur les bons, et envoie sa pluie sur les justes et sur les injustes.
  
  46 Car si vous aimez ceux qui vous aiment, quelle récompense avez-vous ? Les publicains même n'en font-ils pas autant ?
  
  47 Et si vous saluez vos frères seulement, que faites-vous de plus que les autres ? Les nations même ne font-elles pas ainsi ?
  
  48 Vous, soyez donc parfaits, comme votre Père céleste est parfait.
