  11 אַ֞ף כִּֽי־אֲנָשִׁ֣ים רְשָׁעִ֗ים הָרְג֧וּ אֶת־אִישׁ־צַדִּ֛יק בְּבֵית֖וֹ עַל־מִשְׁכָּב֑וֹ וְעַתָּ֗ה הֲל֨וֹא אֲבַקֵּ֤שׁ אֶת־דָּמוֹ֙ מִיֶּדְכֶ֔ם וּבִעַרְתִּ֥י אֶתְכֶ֖ם מִן־הָאָֽרֶץ׃

  11 וַ֠יִּשְׁלַח חִירָ֨ם מֶֽלֶךְ־צֹ֥ר מַלְאָכִים֮ אֶל־דָּוִד֒ וַעֲצֵ֣י אֲרָזִ֔ים וְחָרָשֵׁ֣י עֵ֔ץ וְחָֽרָשֵׁ֖י אֶ֣בֶן קִ֑יר וַיִּבְנֽוּ־בַ֖יִת לְדָוִֽד׃
  
  12 וַיֵּ֣דַע דָּוִ֔ד כִּֽי־הֱכִינ֧וֹ יְהוָ֛ה לְמֶ֖לֶךְ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְכִי֙ נִשֵּׂ֣א מַמְלַכְתּ֔וֹ בַּעֲב֖וּר עַמּ֥וֹ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
  
  13 וַיִּקַּח֩ דָּוִ֨ד ע֜וֹד פִּֽלַגְשִׁ֤ים וְנָשִׁים֙ מִיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם אַחֲרֵ֖י בֹּא֣וֹ מֵחֶבְר֑וֹן וַיִּוָּ֥לְדוּ ע֛וֹד לְדָוִ֖ד בָּנִ֥ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃
  
  14 וְאֵ֗לֶּה שְׁמ֛וֹת הַיִּלֹּדִ֥ים ל֖וֹ בִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם שַׁמּ֣וּעַ וְשׁוֹבָ֔ב וְנָתָ֖ן וּשְׁלֹמֹֽה׃
  
  15 וְיִבְחָ֥ר וֶאֱלִישׁ֖וּעַ וְנֶ֥פֶג וְיָפִֽיעַ׃

  17 וַיִּשְׁמְע֣וּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים כִּי־מָשְׁח֨וּ אֶת־דָּוִ֤ד לְמֶ֙לֶךְ֙ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיַּעֲל֥וּ כָל־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים לְבַקֵּ֣שׁ אֶת־דָּוִ֑ד וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע דָּוִ֔ד וַיֵּ֖רֶד אֶל־הַמְּצוּדָֽה׃
  
  18 וּפְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים בָּ֑אוּ וַיִּנָּטְשׁ֖וּ בְּעֵ֥מֶק רְפָאִֽים׃
  
  19 וַיִּשְׁאַ֨ל דָּוִ֤ד בַּֽיהוָה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הַאֶֽעֱלֶה֙ אֶל־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים הֲתִתְּנֵ֖ם בְּיָדִ֑י וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֤ה אֶל־דָּוִד֙ עֲלֵ֔ה כִּֽי־נָתֹ֥ן אֶתֵּ֛ן אֶת־הַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים בְּיָדֶֽךָ׃
  
  20 וַיָּבֹ֨א דָוִ֥ד בְּבַֽעַל־פְּרָצִים֮ וַיַּכֵּ֣ם שָׁ֣ם דָּוִד֒ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר פָּרַ֨ץ יְהוָ֧ה אֶת־אֹיְבַ֛י לְפָנַ֖י כְּפֶ֣רֶץ מָ֑יִם עַל־כֵּ֗ן קָרָ֛א שֵֽׁם־הַמָּק֥וֹם הַה֖וּא בַּ֥עַל פְּרָצִֽים׃
  
  21 וַיַּעַזְבוּ־שָׁ֖ם אֶת־עֲצַבֵּיהֶ֑ם וַיִּשָּׂאֵ֥ם דָּוִ֖ד וַאֲנָשָֽׁיו׃
  
  22 וַיֹּסִ֥פוּ ע֛וֹד פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים לַֽעֲל֑וֹת וַיִּנָּֽטְשׁ֖וּ בְּעֵ֥מֶק רְפָאִֽים׃
  
  23 וַיִּשְׁאַ֤ל דָּוִד֙ בַּֽיהוָ֔ה וַיֹּ֖אמֶר לֹ֣א תַעֲלֶ֑ה הָסֵב֙ אֶל־אַ֣חֲרֵיהֶ֔ם וּבָ֥אתָ לָהֶ֖ם מִמּ֥וּל בְּכָאִֽים׃

  1 When Saul's son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands became feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled.
  
  2 Saul's son had two men who were captains of bands: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin (for Beeroth also is reckoned to Benjamin:
  
  3 and the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and have lived as foreigners there until this day).
  
  4 Now Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son who was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the news came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel; and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it happened, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. His name was Mephibosheth.
  
  5 The sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth, as he took his rest at noon.
  
  6 They came there into the midst of the house, as though they would have fetched wheat; and they struck him in the body: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.
  
  7 Now when they came into the house, as he lay on his bed in his bedroom, they struck him, and killed him, and beheaded him, and took his head, and went by the way of the Arabah all night.
  
  8 They brought the head of Ishbosheth to David to Hebron, and said to the king, "Behold, the head of Ishbosheth, the son of Saul, your enemy, who sought your life! Yahweh has avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed."
  
  9 David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said to them, "As Yahweh lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
  
  10 when someone told me, 'Behold, Saul is dead,' thinking to have brought good news, I took hold of him, and killed him in Ziklag, which was the reward I gave him for his news.
  
  11 How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house on his bed, shall I not now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?"
  
  12 David commanded his young men, and they killed them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up beside the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the grave of Abner in Hebron.
  
  2 Samuel 5
  
  1 Then came all the tribes of Israel to David to Hebron, and spoke, saying, "Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.
  
  2 In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. Yahweh said to you, 'You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over Israel.'"
  
  3 So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Yahweh; and they anointed David king over Israel.
  
  4 David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.
  
  5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months; and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.
  
  6 The king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, "Unless you take away the blind and the lame, you shall not come in here"; thinking, "David can't come in here."
  
  7 Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion; the same is the city of David.
  
  8 David said on that day, "Whoever strikes the Jebusites, let him get up to the watercourse, and strike the lame and the blind, who are hated by David's soul." Therefore they say, "The blind and the lame can't come into the house."
  
  9 David lived in the stronghold, and called it the city of David. David built around from Millo and inward.
  
  10 David grew greater and greater; for Yahweh, the God of Armies, was with him.
  
  11 Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons; and they built David a house.
  
  12 David perceived that Yahweh had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel's sake.
  
  13 David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he had come from Hebron; and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.
  
  14 These are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,
  
  15 and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
  
  16 and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphelet.
  
  17 When the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the stronghold.
  
  18 Now the Philistines had come and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
  
  19 David inquired of Yahweh, saying, "Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?" Yahweh said to David, "Go up; for I will certainly deliver the Philistines into your hand."
  
  20 David came to Baal Perazim, and David struck them there; and he said, "Yahweh has broken my enemies before me, like the breach of waters." Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim.
  
  21 They left their images there; and David and his men took them away.
  
  22 The Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
  
  23 When David inquired of Yahweh, he said, "You shall not go up. Circle around behind them, and attack them over against the mulberry trees.
  
  24 It shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then you shall stir yourself up; for then Yahweh has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines."
  
  25 David did so, as Yahweh commanded him, and struck the Philistines from Geba until you come to Gezer.

  5 Et les fils de Rimmon, le Beérothien, Récab et Baana, s'en allèrent et vinrent, pendant la chaleur du jour, dans la maison d'Ish-Bosheth ; et il était couché pour son repos de midi.
  
  6 Et ils entrèrent jusque dans l'intérieur de la maison, comme pour prendre du froment, et ils le frappèrent au ventre ; et Récab et Baana, son frère s'échappèrent.
  
  7 Ils entrèrent dans la maison pendant qu'il était couché sur son lit dans sa chambre à coucher, et ils le frappèrent et le tuèrent ; et ils lui ôtèrent la tête ; et ils prirent sa tête, et s'en allèrent toute la nuit par le chemin de la plaine.
  
  8 Et ils apportèrent la tête d'Ish-Bosheth à David, à Hébron, et ils dirent au roi : Voici la tête d'Ish-Bosheth, fils de Saül, ton ennemi qui cherchait ta vie ; et l'Éternel a donné en ce jour au roi, mon seigneur d'être vengé de Saül et de sa race.
  
  9 Et David répondit à Récab et à Baana, son frère, fils de Rimmon le Beérothien, et leur dit : L'Éternel est vivant, qui a racheté mon âme de toute détresse,
  
  10 que celui qui me rapporta, disant : Voici, Saül est mort ! et qui était à ses propres yeux comme un messager de bonnes nouvelles, je le saisis et le tuai à Tsiklag, lui donnant ainsi le salaire de sa bonne nouvelle :
  
  11 combien plus, quand de méchants hommes ont tué un homme juste dans sa maison, sur son lit ! Et maintenant, ne redemanderai-je pas son sang de votre main ; et ne vous exterminerai-je pas de la terre ?
  
  12 Et David commanda à ses jeunes hommes, et ils les tuèrent, et leur coupèrent les mains et les pieds, et les pendirent au réservoir de Hébron. Et on prit la tête d'Ish-Bosheth, et on l'enterra dans le sépulcre d'Abner, à Hébron.
  
  2 Samuel 5
  
  1 Et toutes les tribus d'Israël vinrent vers David à Hébron, et parlèrent, disant : Voici, nous sommes ton os et ta chair.
  
  2 Et autrefois, quand Saül était roi sur nous, c'était toi qui faisais sortir et qui faisais entrer Israël ; et l'Éternel t'a dit : Tu paîtras mon peuple Israël, et tu seras prince sur Israël.
  
  3 Et tous les anciens d'Israël vinrent vers le roi à Hébron ; et le roi David fit alliance avec eux à Hébron, devant l'Éternel ; et ils oignirent David pour roi sur Israël.
  
  4 David était âgé de trente ans lorsqu'il devint roi ; il régna quarante ans.
  
  5 Il régna à Hébron, sur Juda, sept ans et six mois ; et à Jérusalem, il régna trente-trois ans sur tout Israël et Juda.
  
  6 Et le roi alla vers ses hommes à Jérusalem contre les Jébusiens, habitants du pays ; et ils parlèrent à David, disant : Tu n'entreras point ici ; mais les aveugles et les boiteux te repousseront ; -pour dire : David n'entrera pas ici.
  
  7 Mais David prit la forteresse de Sion : c'est la ville de David.
  
  8 Et David dit en ce jour-là : Quiconque frappera les Jébusiens et atteindra le canal, et les boiteux et les aveugles qui sont haïs de l'âme de David,... ! C'est pourquoi on dit : L'aveugle et le boiteux n'entreront pas dans la maison.
  
  9 Et David habita dans la forteresse, et l'appela ville de David ; et David bâtit tout autour, depuis Millo vers l'intérieur.
  
  10 Et David allait grandissant de plus en plus ; et l'Éternel, le Dieu des armées, était avec lui.
  
  11 Et Hiram, roi de Tyr, envoya des messagers à David, et des bois de cèdre, et des charpentiers, et des tailleurs de pierres pour les murailles ; et ils bâtirent une maison à David.
  
  12 Et David connut que l'Éternel l'avait établi roi sur Israël, et qu'il avait élevé son royaume à cause de son peuple Israël.
  
  13 Et David prit encore des concubines et des femmes de Jérusalem, après qu'il fut venu de Hébron, et il naquit encore à David des fils et des filles.
  
  14 Et ce sont ici les noms de ceux qui lui naquirent à Jérusalem : Shammua, et Shobab, et Nathan, et Salomon,
  
  15 et Jibkhar, et Élishua, et Népheg, et Japhia,
  
  16 et Elishama, et Éliada, et Éliphéleth.
  
  17 Et les Philistins apprirent qu'on avait oint David pour roi sur Israël, et tous les Philistins montèrent pour chercher David ; et David l'apprit, et descendit à la forteresse.
  
  18 Et les Philistins vinrent et se répandirent dans la vallée des Rephaïm.
  
  19 Et David interrogea l'Éternel, disant : Monterai-je contre les Philistins ? Les livreras-tu en ma main ? Et l'Éternel dit à David : Monte, car certainement je livrerai les Philistins en ta main.
  
  20 Et David vint à Baal-Peratsim ; et là David les frappa, et il dit : L'Éternel a fait une brèche au milieu de mes ennemis devant moi, comme une brèche faite par les eaux ; c'est pourquoi il appela le nom de ce lieu Baal-Peratsim.
  
  21 Et ils laissèrent là leurs idoles, et David et ses hommes les emportèrent.
  
  22 Et les Philistins montèrent encore de nouveau, et se répandirent dans la vallée des Réphaïm.
  
  23 Et David interrogea l'Éternel. Et il dit : Tu ne monteras pas ; tourne-les par derrière, et tu viendras contre eux vis-à-vis des mûriers ;
  
  24 et aussitôt que tu entendras sur le sommet des mûriers un bruit de gens qui marchent, alors tu t'élanceras, car alors l'Éternel sera sorti devant toi pour frapper l'armée des Philistins.
  
  25 Et David fit ainsi, comme l'Éternel lui avait commandé ; et il frappa les Philistins depuis Guéba jusqu'à ce que tu viennes vers Guézer.
