  1 וְדָוִ֗ד עָבַ֤ר מְעַט֙ מֵֽהָרֹ֔אשׁ וְהִנֵּ֥ה צִיבָ֛א נַ֥עַר מְפִי־בֹ֖שֶׁת לִקְרָאת֑וֹ וְצֶ֨מֶד חֲמֹרִ֜ים חֲבֻשִׁ֗ים וַעֲלֵיהֶם֩ מָאתַ֨יִם לֶ֜חֶם וּמֵאָ֧ה צִמּוּקִ֛ים וּמֵ֥אָה קַ֖יִץ וְנֵ֥בֶל יָֽיִן׃

  3 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וְאַיֵּ֖ה בֶּן־אֲדֹנֶ֑יךָ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר צִיבָ֜א אֶל־הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ הִנֵּה֙ יוֹשֵׁ֣ב בִּירוּשָׁלִַ֔ם כִּ֣י אָמַ֔ר הַיּ֗וֹם יָשִׁ֤יבוּ לִי֙ בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֵ֖ת מַמְלְכ֥וּת אָבִֽי׃
  
  4 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ לְצִבָ֔א הִנֵּ֣ה לְךָ֔ כֹּ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר לִמְפִי־בֹ֑שֶׁת וַיֹּ֤אמֶר צִיבָא֙ הִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֵ֔יתִי אֶמְצָא־חֵ֥ן בְּעֵינֶ֖יךָ אֲדֹנִ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
  
  5 וּבָ֛א הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ דָּוִ֖ד עַד־בַּֽחוּרִ֑ים וְהִנֵּ֣ה מִשָּׁם֩ אִ֨ישׁ יוֹצֵ֜א מִמִּשְׁפַּ֣חַת בֵּית־שָׁא֗וּל וּשְׁמוֹ֙ שִׁמְעִ֣י בֶן־גֵּרָ֔א יֹצֵ֥א יָצ֖וֹא וּמְקַלֵּֽל׃
  
  6 וַיְסַקֵּ֤ל בָּֽאֲבָנִים֙ אֶת־דָּוִ֔ד וְאֶת־כָּל־עַבְדֵ֖י הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִ֑ד וְכָל־הָעָם֙ וְכָל־הַגִּבֹּרִ֔ים מִימִינ֖וֹ וּמִשְּׂמֹאלֽוֹ׃
  
  7 וְכֹֽה־אָמַ֥ר שִׁמְעִ֖י בְּקַֽלְל֑וֹ צֵ֥א צֵ֛א אִ֥ישׁ הַדָּמִ֖ים וְאִ֥ישׁ הַבְּלִיָּֽעַל׃
  
  8 הֵשִׁיב֩ עָלֶ֨יךָ יְהוָ֜ה כֹּ֣ל ׀ דְּמֵ֣י בֵית־שָׁא֗וּל אֲשֶׁ֤ר מָלַ֙כְתָּ֙ *תחתו **תַּחְתָּ֔יו וַיִּתֵּ֤ן יְהוָה֙ אֶת־הַמְּלוּכָ֔ה בְּיַ֖ד אַבְשָׁל֣וֹם בְּנֶ֑ךָ וְהִנְּךָ֙ בְּרָ֣עָתֶ֔ךָ כִּ֛י אִ֥ישׁ דָּמִ֖ים אָֽתָּה׃
  
  9 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֲבִישַׁ֤י בֶּן־צְרוּיָה֙ אֶל־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ לָ֣מָּה יְקַלֵּ֞ל הַכֶּ֤לֶב הַמֵּת֙ הַזֶּ֔ה אֶת־אֲדֹנִ֖י הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ אֶעְבְּרָה־נָּ֖א וְאָסִ֥ירָה אֶת־רֹאשֽׁוֹ׃
  
  10 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ מַה־לִּ֥י וְלָכֶ֖ם בְּנֵ֣י צְרֻיָ֑ה *כי **כֹּ֣ה יְקַלֵּ֗ל *וכי **כִּ֤י יְהוָה֙ אָ֤מַר לוֹ֙ קַלֵּ֣ל אֶת־דָּוִ֔ד וּמִ֣י יֹאמַ֔ר מַדּ֖וּעַ עָשִׂ֥יתָה כֵּֽן׃
  
  11 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֤ד אֶל־אֲבִישַׁי֙ וְאֶל־כָּל־עֲבָדָ֔יו הִנֵּ֥ה בְנִ֛י אֲשֶׁר־יָצָ֥א מִמֵּעַ֖י מְבַקֵּ֣שׁ אֶת־נַפְשִׁ֑י וְאַ֨ף כִּֽי־עַתָּ֜ה בֶּן־הַיְמִינִ֗י הַנִּ֤חוּ לוֹ֙ וִֽיקַלֵּ֔ל כִּ֥י אָֽמַר־ל֖וֹ יְהוָֽה׃
  
  12 אוּלַ֛י יִרְאֶ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה *בעוני **בְּעֵינִ֑י וְהֵשִׁ֨יב יְהוָ֥ה לִי֙ טוֹבָ֔ה תַּ֥חַת קִלְלָת֖וֹ הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃
  
  13 וַיֵּ֧לֶךְ דָּוִ֛ד וַאֲנָשָׁ֖יו בַּדָּ֑רֶךְ סוְשִׁמְעִ֡י הֹלֵךְ֩ בְּצֵ֨לַע הָהָ֜ר לְעֻמָּת֗וֹ הָלוֹךְ֙ וַיְקַלֵּ֔ל וַיְסַקֵּ֤ל בָּֽאֲבָנִים֙ לְעֻמָּת֔וֹ וְעִפַּ֖ר בֶּעָפָֽר׃
  
  14 וַיָּבֹ֥א הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ וְכָל־הָעָ֥ם אֲשֶׁר־אִתּ֖וֹ עֲיֵפִ֑ים וַיִּנָּפֵ֖שׁ שָֽׁם׃
  
  15 וְאַבְשָׁל֗וֹם וְכָל־הָעָם֙ אִ֣ישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בָּ֖אוּ יְרוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וַאֲחִיתֹ֖פֶל אִתּֽוֹ׃
  
  16 וַיְהִ֗י כַּֽאֲשֶׁר־בָּ֞א חוּשַׁ֧י הָאַרְכִּ֛י רֵעֶ֥ה דָוִ֖ד אֶל־אַבְשָׁל֑וֹם וַיֹּ֤אמֶר חוּשַׁי֙ אֶל־אַבְשָׁלֹ֔ם יְחִ֥י הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ יְחִ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
  
  17 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אַבְשָׁלוֹם֙ אֶל־חוּשַׁ֔י זֶ֥ה חַסְדְּךָ֖ אֶת־רֵעֶ֑ךָ לָ֥מָּה לֹֽא־הָלַ֖כְתָּ אֶת־רֵעֶֽךָ׃
  
  18 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר חוּשַׁי֮ אֶל־אַבְשָׁלֹם֒ לֹ֕א כִּי֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר בָּחַ֧ר יְהוָ֛ה וְהָעָ֥ם הַזֶּ֖ה וְכָל־אִ֣ישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל *לא **ל֥וֹ אֶהְיֶ֖ה וְאִתּ֥וֹ אֵשֵֽׁב׃
  
  19 וְהַשֵּׁנִ֗ית לְמִי֙ אֲנִ֣י אֶֽעֱבֹ֔ד הֲל֖וֹא לִפְנֵ֣י בְנ֑וֹ כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר עָבַ֙דְתִּי֙ לִפְנֵ֣י אָבִ֔יךָ כֵּ֖ן אֶהְיֶ֥ה לְפָנֶֽיךָ׃
  
  20 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אַבְשָׁל֖וֹם אֶל־אֲחִיתֹ֑פֶל הָב֥וּ לָכֶ֛ם עֵצָ֖ה מַֽה־נַּעֲשֶֽׂה׃
  
  21 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲחִיתֹ֙פֶל֙ אֶל־אַבְשָׁלֹ֔ם בּ֚וֹא אֶל־פִּלַגְשֵׁ֣י אָבִ֔יךָ אֲשֶׁ֥ר הִנִּ֖יחַ לִשְׁמ֣וֹר הַבָּ֑יִת וְשָׁמַ֤ע כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ כִּֽי־נִבְאַ֣שְׁתָּ אֶת־אָבִ֔יךָ וְחָ֣זְק֔וּ יְדֵ֖י כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר אִתָּֽךְ׃
  
  22 וַיַּטּ֧וּ לְאַבְשָׁל֛וֹם הָאֹ֖הֶל עַל־הַגָּ֑ג וַיָּבֹ֤א אַבְשָׁלוֹם֙ אֶל־פִּֽלַגְשֵׁ֣י אָבִ֔יו לְעֵינֵ֖י כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

  1 When David was a little past the top, behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of donkeys saddled, and on them two hundred loaves of bread, and one hundred clusters of raisins, and one hundred summer fruits, and a bottle of wine.
  
  2 The king said to Ziba, What do you mean by these? Ziba said, The donkeys are for the king's household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as are faint in the wilderness may drink.
  
  3 The king said, "Where is your master's son?" Ziba said to the king, "Behold, he is staying in Jerusalem; for he said, 'Today the house of Israel will restore me the kingdom of my father.'"
  
  4 Then the king said to Ziba, "Behold, all that pertains to Mephibosheth is yours." Ziba said, "I do obeisance. Let me find favor in your sight, my lord, O king."
  
  5 When king David came to Bahurim, behold, a man of the family of the house of Saul came out, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera. He came out, and cursed still as he came.
  
  6 He cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David, and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.
  
  7 Shimei said when he cursed, "Be gone, be gone, you man of blood, and base fellow!
  
  8 Yahweh has returned on you all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose place you have reigned! Yahweh has delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom your son! Behold, you are caught by your own mischief, because you are a man of blood!"
  
  9 Then Abishai the son of Zeruiah said to the king, "Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Please let me go over and take off his head."
  
  10 The king said, "What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah? Because he curses, and because Yahweh has said to him, 'Curse David;' who then shall say, 'Why have you done so?'"
  
  11 David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, "Behold, my son, who came forth from my bowels, seeks my life. How much more this Benjamite, now? Leave him alone, and let him curse; for Yahweh has invited him.
  
  12 It may be that Yahweh will look on the wrong done to me, and that Yahweh will repay me good for the cursing of me today."
  
  13 So David and his men went by the way; and Shimei went along on the hillside opposite him, and cursed as he went, threw stones at him, and threw dust.
  
  14 The king, and all the people who were with him, came weary; and he refreshed himself there.
  
  15 Absalom, and all the people, the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.
  
  16 It happened, when Hushai the Archite, David's friend, had come to Absalom, that Hushai said to Absalom, "Long live the king! Long live the king!"
  
  17 Absalom said to Hushai, "Is this your kindness to your friend? Why didn't you go with your friend?"
  
  18 Hushai said to Absalom, "No; but whomever Yahweh, and this people, and all the men of Israel have chosen, his will I be, and with him I will stay.
  
  19 Again, whom should I serve? Shouldn't I serve in the presence of his son? As I have served in your father's presence, so will I be in your presence."
  
  20 Then Absalom said to Ahithophel, "Give your counsel what we shall do."
  
  21 Ahithophel said to Absalom, "Go in to your father's concubines, that he has left to keep the house. Then all Israel will hear that you are abhorred by your father. Then the hands of all who are with you will be strong."
  
  22 So they spread Absalom a tent on the top of the house; and Absalom went in to his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.
  
  23 The counsel of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was as if a man inquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.

  1 David avait passé un peu au delà du sommet, lorsque voici, Tsiba, serviteur de Mephibosheth, vint à sa rencontre avec deux ânes bâtés, sur lesquels il y avait deux cents pains, et cent gâteaux de raisins secs, et cent de fruits d'été, et une outre de vin.
  
  2 Et le roi dit à Tsiba : Que veux-tu faire de cela ? Et Tsiba dit : Les ânes sont pour la maison du roi, pour les monter ; et le pain et les fruits d'été, pour que les jeunes hommes les mangent ; et le vin, pour que celui qui est fatigué dans le désert en boive.
  
  3 Et le roi dit : Et où est le fils de ton seigneur ? Et Tsiba dit au roi : Voici, il est demeuré à Jérusalem ; car il a dit : Aujourd'hui la maison d'Israël me rendra le royaume de mon père.
  
  4 Et le roi dit à Tsiba : Voici, tout ce qui est à Mephibosheth est à toi. Et Tsiba dit : Je me prosterne ; que je trouve faveur à tes yeux, ô roi, mon seigneur !
  
  5 Et le roi David vint jusqu'à Bakhurim ; et voici, il en sortit un homme de la famille de la maison de Saül, et son nom était Shimhi, fils de Guéra : il sortit en maudissant,
  
  6 et lança des pierres contre David et contre tous les serviteurs du roi David ; et tout le peuple et tous les hommes forts étaient à sa droite et à sa gauche.
  
  7 Et Shimhi disait ainsi en maudissant : Sors, sors, homme de sang, et homme de Bélial !
  
  8 L'Éternel a fait retomber sur toi tout le sang de la maison de Saül, à la place duquel tu as régné, et l'Éternel a mis le royaume dans la main d'Absalom, ton fils ; et te voilà pris dans ton propre mal, car tu es un homme de sang.
  
  9 Et Abishaï, fils de Tseruïa, dit au roi : Pourquoi ce chien mort maudit-il le roi, mon seigneur ? Laisse-moi passer et lui ôter la tête.
  
  10 Et le roi dit : Qu'y a-t-il entre moi et vous, fils de Tseruïa ? Oui, qu'il maudisse ; car l'Éternel lui a dit : Maudis David ! et qui diras : Pourquoi fais-tu ainsi ?
  
  11 Et David dit à Abishaï et à tous ses serviteurs : Voici, mon fils, qui est sorti de mes entrailles, cherche ma vie ; combien plus maintenant ce Benjaminite ! Laissez-le, et qu'il maudisse ! car l'Éternel le lui a dit.
  
  12 Peut-être l'Éternel regardera mon affliction, et l'Éternel me rendra le bien pour la malédiction qui tombe aujourd'hui sur moi.
  
  13 Et David et ses hommes allèrent leur chemin ; et Shimhi marchait sur le flanc de la montagne, vis-à-vis de lui, et en marchant il maudissait et lançait des pierres contre lui, et jetait de la poussière.
  
  14 Et le roi, et tout le peuple qui était avec lui, arrivèrent fatigués, et là ils se refirent.
  
  15 Et Absalom, et tout le peuple, les hommes d'Israël, vinrent à Jérusalem, et Akhitophel avec lui.
  
  16 Et il arriva que, lorsque Hushaï, l'Arkite, l'ami de David, vint vers Absalom, Hushaï dit à Absalom : Vive le roi ! vive le roi !
  
  17 Et Absalom dit à Hushaï : Est-ce là ta bonté pour ton ami ? Pourquoi n'es-tu pas allé avec ton ami ?
  
  18 Et Hushaï dit à Absalom : Non, car je serai à celui qu'ont choisi l'Éternel et ce peuple, et tous les hommes d'Israël, et c'est avec lui que je demeurerai ; et de plus, qui servirai-je ?
  
  19 Ne sera-ce pas devant son fils ? Comme j'ai servi devant ton père, ainsi je serai devant toi.
  
  20 Et Absalom dit à Akhitophel : Donnez un conseil sur ce que nous ferons.
  
  21 Et Akhitophel dit à Absalom : Va vers les concubines de ton père, qu'il a laissées pour garder la maison ; et tout Israël entendra dire que tu es en mauvaise odeur auprès de ton père, et les mains de tous ceux qui sont avec toi seront fortifiées.
  
  22 Et on tendit une tente pour Absalom sur le toit ; et Absalom entra vers les concubines de son père, aux yeux de tout Israël.
  
  23 Et le conseil que donnait Akhitophel, en ces jours-là, était comme si on se fut enquis de la parole de Dieu. Ainsi était tout le conseil d'Akhitophel, tant auprès de David qu'auprès d'Absalom.
