  23 Geshur and Aram took the towns of Jair from them, with Kenath, and its villages, even sixty cities. All these were the sons of Machir the father of Gilead.
  
  24 After that Hezron was dead in Caleb Ephrathah, then Abijah Hezron's wife bore him Ashhur the father of Tekoa.
  
  25 The sons of Jerahmeel the firstborn of Hezron were Ram the firstborn, and Bunah, and Oren, and Ozem, Ahijah.
  
  26 Jerahmeel had another wife, whose name was Atarah; she was the mother of Onam.

  Les Chroniques sont, dans une large mesure, une répétition de ce qui est décrit dans les livres de Samuel et des Rois ; cependant, nous pouvons y découvrir d'excellents enseignements utiles, que nous ne nous trouvons nulle part ailleurs.
  Le PREMIER LIVRE retrace la croissance du peuple juif, à partir d'Adam, et fait ensuite un exposé sur le règne de David.
  Dans le DEUXIÈME LIVRE, le récit continue et retrace l'ascension, puis la décadence du royaume de Juda ; il décrit également le retour des juifs, de leur captivité à Babylone. Jérôme (Père de l'Église latine) annonce, que celui qui prétend avoir une bonne connaissance des Écritures, sans connaître vraiment le livre des Chroniques, se séduit lui-même. Des faits historiques, des noms, et des concordances de passages sont regroupés ici, ainsi que beaucoup de réponses aux questions que l'on peut se poser sur l'évangile.
  * Généalogie d'Adam à Abraham. (1 Chroniques 1:1-27) Les descendants d'Abraham. (1 Chroniques 1:28-54)
  1 Chroniques 1:1-27 Ce chapitre, comme quelques suivants, répète la généalogie de l'histoire biblique, en donnant la liste des pères et de leurs enfants, avec bon nombre d'informations supplémentaires. En comparaison avec d'autres passages de la Bible, il y a quelques différences notoires ; nous ne devons pas malgré tout, être ébranlés par cette éventuelle incohérence de noms, mais nous pouvons louer Dieu, de ce que, dans Sa Parole, tous les éléments nécessaires à notre salut sont vraiment clairs !
  L'origine de la nation juive est ici retracée à partir du premier homme, créé par Dieu ; cette généalogie se distingue en fait des origines obscures, fabuleuses et absurdes, que l'on trouve parfois pour d'autres populations.
  Mais les lignées des nations étant maintenant plus ou moins mélangées, aucune ne peut revendiquer une pureté absolue à ce sujet. Par contre nous pouvons être sûrs que Dieu a créé les différentes nations à partir du sang d'un seul être original ; tous sont descendus d'Adam, voire de Noé. « N'y a-t-il pas pour nous tous, un seul père ? Un seul Dieu ne nous a-t-il pas créés » ? Malachie 2:10.
  
  28 La généalogie décrite ici, découle de la postérité d'Abraham. Prenons le temps de lire ces listes de noms, en songeant aux multitudes de personnes qui vécurent ici-bas, et qui ont disparu ensuite.
  Chaque génération, même constituée d'hommes pécheurs, finit par passer, puis d'autres suivront, Ec 1:4;Nombres 32:14 et il en sera ainsi tant que le monde demeurera.
  Notre passage sur terre est relativement court, comparé à l'éternité ! Puissions-nous faire partie du peuple racheté par le Seigneur !

  Généalogie.
  - Ce texte décrit la généalogie des enfants d'Israël : ils formaient un peuple distinctif, qui devait demeurer à part et ne pas être compté « parmi » les nations.
  Mais maintenant, tous ceux qui s'approchent de Christ, en vue d'obtenir le salut, sont les bienvenus ; devant Lui, tous ont les mêmes privilèges, selon la mesure de leur foi, de leur amour et de leur dévotion.
  Toute nouvelle vie en Jésus consiste à œuvrer pour Dieu, dans Sa paix, et dans Son « optique » spirituelle, pour Sa gloire, et aussi, à aimer notre prochain.

  50 Ce sont ici les fils de Caleb : les fils de Hur, premier-né d'Éphratha : Shobal, père de Kiriath-Jéarim ;

  52 -Et Shobal, père de Kiriath-Jéarim, eut des fils : Haroé, Hatsi-Hammenukhoth.
  
  53 Et les familles de Kiriath-Jéarim furent : les Jéthriens, et les Puthiens, et les Shumathiens, et les Mishraïens ; de ceux-ci sont sortis les Tsorhathiens et les Eshtaoliens.
  
  54 -Les fils de Salma : Bethléhem, et les Netophathites, Atroth-Beth-Joab, et les Hatsi-Manakhthiens, les Tsorhiens ;
  
  55 et les familles des scribes, habitant Jahbets : les Tirhathiens, les Shimhathiens, les Sucathiens. Ceux-là sont les Kéniens, qui sont sortis de Hammath, père de la maison de Récab.
